Project Summary

The Greater Richmond Convention Center is the largest convention facility on the eastern seaboard. Cleveland Cement was selected by the construction manager, Turner Construction, as the best, most responsive bidder to handle the concrete work on this 1,000,000 square foot landmark structure.  Our scope included the foundations, floors, structural concrete including several massive cores, and a 500 car parking garage.  The project was situated on a tight downtown site constricted on three sides by streets and on the fourth side by the existing convention center.  Special attention was given to communication and coordination on this multi-phase project as the space was booked for a convention on the completion date.  Cleveland Cement delivered this structure ahead of schedule.

Project Summary

Cleveland Cement was selected by the University of Virginia to renovate Scott Stadium. The scope of the project included closing in the South end of the stadium, adding 20,000 seats, the addition of new locker rooms and athletic offices and the construction of an adjacent 600 car parking garage.  Working with Barton Malow Contractors, Cleveland Cement overcame significant obstacles presented by constructing the addition completely from the exterior on a site surrounded by ravines.  We also had to overcome the challenges of schedule, with only the time between the football seasons to complete the work. The result is one of the finest college stadiums in America with new space flowing seamlessly into the spaces constructed early last century.
